We have all had those moments, more often than not, when a spill or accident occurs with our carpet at home or work. After the initial emotions and possible ranting subsides a person generally sets about cleaning the spill or accident. In most cases what happens is that the stain and the contents of it are pushed deeper in to the carpet and padding leaving it somewhat out of sight, but definitely still there as a stain and odor to follow.

As many here in Minneapolis are aware, after a winter where hot weather is not an issue and the summer with it's humidity and heat rear its head these stains can certainly come back to haunt the unfortunate resident where the spill had taken place months before. As annoying as this problem can be there are many ways to deal with these situations that will be better for your carpet, your home and you and your loved ones or roommates.

Let's imagine after a long day working you make your way home through Minneapolis only to return home and find that your new puppy isn't quite up to speed on the potty training thing. After the initial disappointment and once you've gotten used to the smell, an alternative to removing the mess than using water or some chemical to clean this by wiping back and forth try using a soft soap with water, as this will be better for your carpet and its color than most chemicals, and gently blot a towel into the carpet, while pulling softly up to remove the material left in the carpet. This will clean and remove the matter from the carpet as opposed to a back and forth motion that forces the remaining mess further into the carpet and eventually the padding. This technique is effective for every type of pet "accidents" and if you need advice you can always consult a carpet cleaning company.

The same applies for wine and other drinks or liquids since they usually have a color to them that is not the same as your carpet. Since they are a liquid, when they spill and are still wet you will want to gently blot and pull out the liquid as much as possible and then use a water and soft soap towel to remove any additional stain left behind.

There are many varieties of food here in Minneapolis that are enjoyed by locals and the best thing to remember when removing any food(s) that have fallen to the floor is to get as much of it, especially foods with a thinner consistency, out of the carpet without "grinding" it further into the deeper parts and to the padding. After you've done this use the pull and blot method to remove the rest and be sure to vacuum over the area(s) to remove any loose pieces that may have escaped your initial carpet cleaning.

Remember that a professional carpet cleaner located in Minneapolis is the best choice for carpet cleaning, as they not only remove just a stain, spill or accident of any kind, they clean and sanitize your entire living space that lends to healthier and happier living.
