We all know that when it is time to clean there are cleaning supplies and solutions that must be used that can be environmentally and person friendly, or not. Most people in Salt Lake City try their best to use ones that are less harmful than others, but some cleaning must be done with these stronger chemicals and sometimes that pertains to your carpeting.

When it is time for your spring cleaning, or just your regularly scheduled house cleaning and you are going to buy carpet cleaning supplies or have a Salt Lake City professional carpet cleaning company come to your home we thought we would make a list of some of the chemicals you might want to be aware of that are in many of the solutions used to clean carpets.

This list will help you in case of any confusion, if you are concerned about chemicals and of course, if there is anyone in your home who suffers from allergies or asthma.

While water is the most common every day solvent it is not effective enough to take care of tough stains, therefore chemicals are added to create the solvents used in carpet cleaning today.

Some of the chemicals in solvents are: Tetrachloroethylene, Perchloroethylene, Butoxyethanol and other glycol ethers. While the names of these chemical most likely mean nothing to you, you will definitely want to know them if, as stated, anyone in your home suffers from allergies or you just like to what what's in things.

In order to help with mildew or possible mold problems and prevention, as well as odor control there are what are called mildewcides, and a word you will recognize, deodorants in many of the cleaning solutions used such as: Formaldehyde, Phenol and Tributyl tin.

Many of these cleaners, in order to get those tough stains and other problems out of your carpet, must use acids and various other corrosive chemicals to do the job right with Sodium carbonate, Hydroxyacetic acid, Sodium hydroxide, Hydrofluoric acid, and Nitrilotriacetic acid.

There are many other chemical to be aware of like Dibutyl phthalate, Butane, propane and isobutanes, which is an aerosol propellant, and Octylphenol ethoxylate and Nonylphenol ethoxylate, both being surfactants.

You can find many explanations for these strange sounding words that make up the vast majority of carpet cleaning solutions by simply logging on to the internet and typing in their names. You can also find lists on what sort of effects these chemical can or might have on people no matter if they suffer from any health issues or not.

Remember that do it yourself cleaning, while cheaper and sometimes better, does not always compare when it comes to professionals and their services. Many of the Salt Lake City carpet cleaning companies use and offer non toxic and allergen free cleaning supplies and if you are unsure just how toxin and allergen free your supplies are it might be a good time to call one of these companies and let them do the work for you.
